EU-financed INN-BALANCE is one of the projects initiated to achieve a fuel cell system based on PowerCell S3 (prototype).

The system will be tested in a passenger vehicle from Volvo Car Group, and the project started at the beginning of 2017. The aim is to develop components for a fuel cell system for vehicles. A consortium consisting of companies and research institutes from several European countries is behind the application.

“The aim of the project is to improve efficiency and reliability, and also reduce costs,” says Per Wassén, President of PowerCell.

With output of 100 kW, PowerCell S3 is developed especially for the automotive industry and the system’s peripheral components are developed by the consortium partners. Support is from the EU Fuel Cells Programme and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking.
